Sora had spent some of his first day in the castle poking around the few accessible areas inside. In the course of that poking around, he'd learned that... somehow... Roxas was there and not just in his head. There was another Roxas. The one in his head wasn't taking this well, though he calmed down a little bit when Sora reminded him they'd had two of Sephiroth hanging around and met alternates of a few people Sora knew, such as Cloud and Tifa. So there was some kind of weird alternate realities thing going on.

It probably didn't help that they'd discovered the other Roxas by finding him crashed on the couch in the sitting room, sleeping so soundly that they could only assume he was exhausted. The damage to his clothes suggested he'd been injured at some point, but he'd clearly been healed up at some point. His clothes were another issue. He was either still with the Organization or recently left it as he was still wearing the coat. And that was assuming the alternate reality thing didn't change much. Honestly, the only way they would know what had changed would be to talk to him and even that was assuming that his point in the timeline would cover the divergence that created the alternate reality. It was also assuming there even was an alternate reality and not just some funky time travel stuff.

They were sock monkeys. )

The bedrooms were quite nice. It was what could be expected of a princess' castle. Large beds with fancy sheets, high quality wood furniture and arched windows all with a fabulous view of the grounds.

Hazel had claimed one that was sort of obviously girly. Not really because she was into that but, she was sure the boys would rather avoid living in it while they were here and there weren't that many bedrooms that weren't locked for some reason. At least it wasn't smothered in pink. Not that all the fabric in the room being shades of lavender was much better... The wood was a nice dark color though so, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. She could ignore the frills easily enough.

There really isn't much to say about this place for the moment. There's a Castle with a moat that has a small beach a little ways down river. The well manicured hedges, trees and flower beds are still just budding. It appears to be early Spring... Wherever this is. Birds chirp and flit about pecking at the ground for bugs and seeds. The bright sun makes the slight chill in the air bearable if one happens to be without a jacket.

There are a few rabbit-like creatures hopping around the lawn. And beyond the lawn, wasteland. As far as the eye can see.

It seems deserted but, if you look close, you may see signs that someone was here. A foot print in the mud, grass squished where someone wandered through,(maybe a wet spot and trail of drips by the moat where someone climbed out) and the front door of the castle is open a crack.

Inside seems just as empty but, it also seems welcoming. Somehow. Maybe it's the cute sky and cloud patterns on the walls.

Or the 'Welcome" and 'Grand Opening' signs that disappear a few seconds after they've been seen. Whichever.

Well, you're here. May as well look around.

For voice testing or if you just want to thread with someone. No need to be a member.

Anything goes as long as it could fit within the setting and is PG-13. Both in person and network are okay. Doesn't have to be as if characters just got there and there can be areas not present in the game.

Be nice and follow the rules.

Have fun.

If you've been invited to this community by one of its members post a comment here or send a PM to this account telling me so so I can grant access and let me know who invited you so that it can be confirmed that you were really invited.

Also since each character has a painting somewhere with a replica piece of their world inside it you should go the Castle post HERE and describe the one that comes with your character. Doesn't have to be right away, just as long as it's before someone wants to go into it.

This is just some events and plot stuff that may happen at some point in the future. This is not a complete or detailed list.

♣ Dream event: Portraits of player characters appear somewhere in the castle. Can only be entered when the character is asleep and dreaming.

♣ Gift event: Everyone gets a present. May be normal, silly or do something weird.

♣ Doppelgangers: Of characters or people the characters would know. Most likely dangerous in some way.

♣ Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy: ...Does this need an explanation?

♣ Fairy Tale: Characters get stuck in fairy tale type roles. Can be aware or think it's how it's always been.

♣ Tournament: Most likely in a painting of some kind.

♣ Jumanji?

Plot

Yeah, there is sort of a main plot. It'll be revealed after a while. When and how much depends on what player characters do.

Some questions characters might want to find answers to.

Who is Mr. Cloak exactly?

Is there really nothing to find beyond the castle grounds?

Why are we here when there are so many people that are here willingly?

Is building this world harming anything elsewhere?

Rules

mediocrespells: (Default)
[personal profile] mediocrespells
Struck out rules not needed while game is museboxed

♠- Keep OOC issues out of IC interactions.

♠- Don't be an ass.

♠- Put disturbing/NSFW content behind a cut with appropriate warnings.

♠-OOC knowledge is not IC knowledge. Remember, your character doesn't know everything you do.

♠-In character actions = In character consequences.

♠-Time- There isn't a set game time to real time ratio.

♠-No godmoding- Don't control another person's character or dictate what happens to them. Be fair and remember that communication is good.

Try not to have a normal human somehow able to take on a superpowered being on even footing. Unless there are some weird circumstances that both players agree on, of course.

♠-Dying- There may be situations where a character will die. The character may wake up wherever they have been staying a day or so later with no idea how they got there. They will be very uncomfortable and weak for several days but, they will be alive.

Each character will find three dolls of themselves in whatever room they claim. It is suggested that they represent the chances they get to revive after death but, there is no indication that dying more than three times is really the limit.

FAQ

♣ Wait, what?

Characters are brought to a replica of Princess Peach's castle. Not an exact replica though. There are more rooms suitable for bedrooms, a kitchen, some bathrooms and a library. And of course all the paintings are different and can change on occasion.

Mr. Cloak found his first attempt to create a world out of the pieces of others to be a failure. But he's not giving up. Now he's experimenting with copies of places instead...

The way home is known by at least one person in the castle. They just can't say anything to new arrivals right away because Mr. Cloak wants you to stay for at least a little while.

The paintings hold temporary versions of the replica pieces. It is all very similar to how the paintings work in Super Mario 64. Characters go in, complete a task and get a reward. Or get unceremoniously ejected from the painting if they fail or die. Rewards may include the keys to the upper floors), money or luxury items. Some paintings contain shops to spend the money(which is automatically converted to the currency present in the world represented by the painting) and to sell unwanted items. (Attempting to sell the silver cutlery from the kitchen will result in the shopkeeper saying they don't buy stolen goods.)

NPCs are mostly people who have been given a second chance at life. They mostly live in the paintings for now.

Great. Now how do I join?

If you've been invited go HERE and give the information requested.

If you haven't been invited but, would still like to join you can fill out an application HERE anytime.

Characters

♣ What kinds of characters can we play?

Characters from movies, comics, anime, cartoons, TV series, video games and other things. Please no entirely crack muses or characters from canons aimed at very young children.

♣ Are original characters allowed?

Yes.

Try not to have a canon character's brother/sister/daughter/brainworm/whatevers though... but it's a musebox and if someone in the game really wants to play that stuff with you, you can.

♣ Multiples? Alternate universe?

Yes to both.

♣ A character who has died?

Yes. They'll be alive and well. No one will be able or willing to explain it though.

♣ What kinds of characters are NOT allowed?

-Real people.

♣ What kinds of NPCs are there?

Mr. Cloak. The one responsible for creating this world. He will not show up often if at all.

There are going to be several paintings of places that have been destroyed in their canon.

Mr. Cloak has given the residents that died there a second chance at life and they will live in the painting for the time being.

Merchants: If there is a shop in one of the paintings the person that normally runs it will be there. Though some of them may not exactly be real.

Traveling merchants such as Chocolina from FFXIII-2 or Neko from Secret of Mana may be found in some places that would not normally have a merchant.

Bunnies: Bunny like monsters or the bunnies from Super Mario 64 can be found occasionally. If caught they'll give up a key to a drawer on a cabinet somewhere inside the castle or another small item. Harmless unless provoked.

Bunny Cam: For all your accidental video needs. A Happy Bunny from FFXII with a camera. Can open doors and has a love for pancakes and shiny objects.

Setting

♣ The world is expanding?

Sort of. The world is all there but, it's mostly barren wasteland. The replica pieces found inside paintings within the castle are being considered as possible additions to the world outside.

Not all the painting pieces will be added and not all that is added will have a painting beforehand.

Players are encouraged to suggest locations both in and out of the paintings.

♣ The castle?

A replica of Princess Peach's Castle from Super Mario 64. Though many of the things inside the various rooms are different.

♣ Paintings?

The paintings are portals to small pocket dimension areas containing replicas of the places characters were when they were brought here and some random places.

The portal paintings will ripple if brushed up against or the wall shook.

♣ What kinds of places are in the paintings?

Part of a city or town, forest, plains, mountains. Pretty much anything but, not too big an area. Could be as big as a few miles but, most will be smaller.

If there are monsters there in canon there will be monsters in the painting replica. If there aren't usually monsters there won't be any in the painting except possibly during some events.

♣ Monsters?

Show up in paintings of places that normally have them or in the castle during monster events.

Monsters will occasionally drop random things along with or instead of the items they normally would in their canon.

♣ Supplies?

Despite being a castle only basic foodstuffs are found in the kitchen. Sweets and luxury food items will have to be bought, made or found.

Changes of clothes will also have to be bought or found if your character wasn't already carrying them.

There are shops in some of the paintings for this and a shop or two may show up somewhere within the castle.

Game-play

♣ Communication?
There are some computers in the library that are connected to a Livejournal/Dreamwidth like site. If your character has a portable computer or cell phone they can use them. It's also possible to buy one in a shop.

They may use those to post to the network comm [community profile] pieces_net

For face-to-face interactions or any adventures, solo or as a group, post in the main community [community profile] piecesofworlds. This is not required. You can simply have your character post about these adventures in the network community if you want.

For out of character stuff such as hiatus announcements or random stuff you'd like to share there is pieces_ooc [community profile] pieces_ooc

♣ Plot?

There are many complications that one comes across when creating a world. Especially when you're using the remnants of a destroyed world as a starting point.

Some player characters are brought in for some unknown task relating to those complications.

Some have other reasons for being present.

Most of the plot will be player driven. Player activity will determine how slow or fast the plot moves along.

Aside from main plot and random events players may do just about anything within reason. Have character react to the setting, attempt to take over, explore the castle or paintings, etc.

♣ What happens when my character arrives?

They could wake up in the castle underneath their painting as it is being hung, get dropped in the moat, end up in the wasteland beyond that castle grounds, on the roof, etc. Just not the upper floors or basement right away.

They only have what they had on their person at the moment they were taken.

The NPCs that may be in the castle or paintings will not try to explain anything unless asked and are unlikely to be able to answer many questions anyway.

♣ Can characters go home and come back repeatedly?

Sure, why not? If you really need an excuse for them not to just ditch the place and never return there are many reasons one character may be prevented from leaving while others are not.

♣ Events?

There will occasionally be random events. Silly, serious, dangerous, etc.

And some for random holidays. All are optional.

♣ Can players run a game wide event or plot?

Of course.

♣ How does time pass in game?

Slowly.

♣ Bulletin board?

There is a bulletin with jobs people can do. They mostly involve going into the paintings.

If the job is to retrieve something a place should be given to leave it and rewards will show up in the character's room. When the job is for a Mr. Cloak at least.

Sometimes going in the paintings without a goal in mind can have someone that is a part of the painting ask a favor and give a reward on the spot upon completion.

Characters may also offer jobs to others.

♣ Can I kill my character?

Yes. Please put it behind a cut if and have appropriate warnings for anything that may be disturbing.

Characters are each given three dolls that represent extra lives like in some video games. Whether anything bad happens after they run out or they simply get a continue is up to you because musebox game.

♣ If you have any questions not answered, please ask them here.

The castle

The screen shots are just for a basic idea. The doors don't lead to the same things as in the game. Some rooms with one painting in the game will have multiple paintings in Pieces.

I kinda fail at making maps so there won't be one specific to the RP unless someone else volunteers to make it. There is this one I found of the first floor that can be used for a basic idea of that area.

Basic outside view.

Inside the entrance.

And here's a Castle tour pt1, pt2, pt3 and pt4 for idea of some of the places that might be explored. A lot of the doors are locked at the start and many don't have anything near the same things behind them.

Some of the differences so far.

♠ The door on the far left now leads to a sitting room. There is a large couch, several arm chairs, some end tables, a coffee table and an entertainment center.
Though it seems any media that could be connected to present characters is blocked. There is a video game system that has only games without story or characterization that could be connected to anyone present. There is a computer in one corner that can be used to look stuff and connect to the network. No, there isn't any information on the characters present available. There is a large painting on one wall.(It is Hazel's painting most of the time)

♠ The second door on the left now leads to a kitchen. There are only basic foodstuffs and boring snacks in the pantry. There may be some boring frozen dinners for the cooking impaired. For now. There are hints that the food will only restock itself while there is no alternate method to obtain food. The painting in this room always includes a farm or marketplace where foodstuffs can be bought or traded for... though it doesn't always have to be the same one.

♠ The door on the far right leads to a room lined with large aquariums. Across from the door is a space for a painting.(Paintings in this room usually include water of some sort.)

♠ Up the stairs in the center of the room is a locked door that leads to a spiral staircase.

To the left is a large door leading to a corridor lined with even more doors. Four on each side. At least four are bedrooms. There is a large painting at the end of the corridor.

To the right is a smaller door that leads to a round empty room with a stained glass window on either side of the room and five doors. Three of those doors are luxurious bedrooms, one is a bathroom.

The center door leads to a common room type area containing a table and chairs and a large cabinet with many locked drawers. There is a locked door in one corner of the room.

♠ The doors on either side of the stairs both lead to a corridor to the courtyard and stairs to the basement. Right at the bottom of those stairs are a couple small rooms for storage and laundry before the door to the basement area proper.

-More to be added later

Note: Details about paintings and whatever you want to say about where your character decides to stay can be left in the comments below.
